We're Back!
Students HEAL is honored to have the opportunity to return to Sangkhlaburi, Thailand yet again this year! Last year's brigade was a huge success and we only hope to continue this success in 2017! We have once again teamed up with Starfish Volunteers and are looking forward to working with their amazing team!
Why Sangkhlaburi again?
Sangkhlaburi is a small town (around 5-8,000 people) in the North West of Kanchanaburi province, along the Burmese border. There are large numbers of permanent displaced people from Burma throughout the area. While accepted by Thai authorities, much of the population lack formal rights to live in Thailand, meaning that earning options are extremely limited. Due to their lack of citizenship, these people could be arrested if they attempt to leave Sangkhlaburi to seek healthcare in the more established parts of Kanchanaburi. Because the people of Sangkhlaburi have little to no access to healthcare, we are going to bring healthcare to them and give them a continuity of care that they have never had before.
Here is an idea of what you can expect on your journey!
