Hi! My name is Saba Abrishami and I am one of the Co-Medical Supply Leads! I’m incredibly excited and feel so honored to be on the HEAL Leadership Board. I’m currently a Track 1 Nursing Sophomore and I recently transferred to San Diego from Los Angeles. As a former EMT, I’m thrilled to jump back in and collaborate with my Co, my fellow LEADs, and healthcare professionals in order to provide care to the people of Sangkhlaburi. I’m very passionate about helping and educating people because I believe it’s so important to share knowledge with others. I feel so grateful that I have the opportunity to contribute my nursing skills to an underserved population and hopefully make a difference in their lives. In my free time, I like cooking, trying new cultural foods, napping, doing hair and face masks, catching up on my TV shows, going to the beach, and exploring San Diego! Traveling is one of my favorite things to do and is a huge privilege. I can’t wait to go to Thailand and explore Thai culture, language, food, and a different way of life. I also have an interest to learn about Sangkhlaburi’s healthcare system and education system and learn from the people of Thailand. I believe I will grow professionally and personally as a lead and on our trip in Thailand and I plan to put my best efforts and care into the work that I do. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I’m so blessed to be experiencing it through my school, this organization, and my peers!
Hello! My name is Jeremy DeRouen and I am extremely honored and excited to serve as one of the Medical Supply Co-Chairs for the 2020-2021 brigade to Sangkhlaburi. I am a Track 1 Sophomore and a returning student transferring from The San Diego City College. When not busy with school and work, I enjoy being outdoors- biking, beach, golf, volleyball. Upon graduating, I hope to work in emergency nursing and to continue involvement in groups with similar missions throughout my career. I am grateful to have the opportunity to travel to Thailand and take part in this amazing learning experience. I look forward to exploring the country and its culture and hope that we can make a positive difference within the underserved communities we visit. Thank you to everyone who is part of making this trip a success!
